Darwi Media ("Darwi," "we," "us") operates darwi.org (the "Site"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It is written for readers in the United States.
1. Summary
- We collect little: what you send us, newsletter details if you subscribe, and basic technical data.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
- We do not ask for, and you should not send, health records or genetic data.
- Contact: admin@darwi.org
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email messages: your name, email address and whatever you include when you contact us (tips, corrections, questions).
- Newsletter: your email address and, if provided, your name and preferences. Right now, signup is handled by email to admin@darwi.org. We plan to move the newsletter to Beehiiv; once live, Beehiiv will store subscriber data on our behalf.
- Future purchases: if we start selling educational kits or services, we will collect name, shipping/billing address, email and order details. Payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor, which we will name here before any store opens; we will not store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: IP address, browser type, device, pages requested, referring URL and timestamps, processed by our host (Hostinger), WordPress and our security tools (such as Wordfence) to run and protect the Site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy. The Site uses LiteSpeed Cache for performance. We may add Google Analytics in the future.
- Newsletter engagement (once on Beehiiv): whether emails are opened and links clicked, via tracking pixels and tracked links.
Sensitive information
We do not intend to collect sensitive personal information (such as health, genetic or precise location data). If you choose to share health details in a message, you consent to us receiving them solely to respond to you; we will not use them for any other purpose.
3. How we use information
To operate, maintain and secure the Site; respond to messages and corrections; send newsletters you requested; understand readership in aggregate; process and deliver future orders; manage affiliate and sponsorship programs (aggregate reporting only); comply with law; and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers acting for us: hosting (Hostinger), WordPress plugins, email provider, newsletter platform (Beehiiv, once live), analytics (Google Analytics, if added), and future payment/shipping providers.
- Affiliate partners: when you click an affiliate link, the partner may set cookies to credit the sale. We do not give them your name or email.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers: if Darwi is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. If that changes (for example, if we add advertising cookies), we will update this policy and provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link.
5. Analytics
If we add Google Analytics, Google will collect device and usage data through cookies to help us understand traffic. We will enable IP truncation where available and honor opt-outs. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and your browser settings.
6. Newsletter and email
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by emailing admin@darwi.org. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act. Sponsored newsletter slots will be labeled.
7. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid request to opt out of sale/sharing where state law requires. Browsers' "Do Not Track" signals have no common standard; we do not currently respond to them beyond GPC.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Nebraska and others), you may have the right to:
- Know / access the personal information we have about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your information;
- Get a copy in a portable format;
- Opt out of sale, sharing/targeted advertising and certain profiling;
- Limit use of sensitive personal information;
- Appeal our decision on your request;
- Not be discriminated against for using these rights.
We extend these rights to all US readers regardless of state, as a matter of policy.
How to make a request: email admin@darwi.org with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity (usually by confirming control of your email address) and respond within 45 days (extendable as allowed by law). An authorized agent may submit a request with proof of authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject; we will respond within the time required by your state law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

10. Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Site is for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email admin@darwi.org and we will delete it. Future products (such as educational kits) will be sold only to adults.

13. International visitors
The Site is operated from the United States and intended for US readers. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the US.
14. Changes
We will update this policy when we add features such as the Beehiiv newsletter, Google Analytics, advertising or a store, and change the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
