Sponsorship & Advertising Policy
How we keep paid content clearly labeled and separate from our journalism.
Advertise with Darwi →Last updated: October 29, 2026
Darwi may accept sponsorships and advertising to support free news and education. This policy explains how we keep paid content separate from journalism.
Status
We do not currently run paid sponsorships or display ads. This policy will apply when we do. See also our Affiliate Disclosure.
Editorial independence
- Sponsors and advertisers never review, approve or edit editorial content before publication.
- Payment does not buy coverage, favorable coverage, or removal of critical coverage.
- Our editors decide what we cover based on news value and evidence.
Labeling
- Sponsored articles, newsletter slots, videos and social posts are clearly labeled "Sponsored" or "Paid partnership," with the sponsor named, at the top and in a way readers can't miss.
- Display ads are labeled "Advertisement."
- Links in paid content are marked as sponsored links (rel="sponsored").
- We follow the FTC Endorsement Guides and the FTC's guidance on native advertising.
What we will not accept
- Ads or sponsorships making unproven or illegal health claims (e.g., cures for disease, unapproved therapies marketed as treatments).
- Unapproved drugs, unregulated "gene therapy" or stem-cell clinics, or products requiring a prescription that are sold unlawfully.
- Political or issue advertising.
- Gambling, sports betting or lottery products.
- Tobacco, nicotine and vaping products.
- "Miracle" weight-loss products, detox cures or diet products with unproven claims.
- Cryptocurrency hype, speculative token sales or get-rich-quick investment schemes.
- Weapons and adult content.
- Ads that look like editorial content without a clear label.
- Anything misleading, discriminatory, or that violates law or platform rules. Health-related advertisers must be able to substantiate their claims. We may reject or remove any ad or sponsor at our discretion.
Darwi's own products
If we sell our own products (such as CRISPR educational kits or services), promotions for them will be clearly identified as Darwi products, and our news coverage will disclose this interest when relevant.
Conflicts of interest
Contributors disclose any financial interest (stock, consulting, employment) in companies they cover. Material conflicts are disclosed in the story.
